Everyone constructs a personal narrative to romanticize their emotional connection to a song or artist.

Cop Shoot Cop: Interference
Something about listening to Cop Shoot Cop (the band, not the song, see above) always gave me the idea that it was preparing me to live in the city someday. Listening to this band a lot when I was in high school made me completely ready to ride on the subway and sit next to the guy covered with scabs.

Cop Shoot Cop: Nowhere
I decided to walk home tonight from a few subway stops away from my home. I’m starting to get a moral dilemma. Because I’m such a professional walker, I know how to slow down perfectly and then hit a crosswalk in stride, even if it’s one of those orange Don’t Walk hands. The problem happens when, like, tourists or old people on the other side of the street see that I’m going, and think that they can go without paying attention to traffic. A lot of them just go headlong into traffic. Part of me wants to say Hey, c’mon, if you get hit it’s totally your fault. Is that a sign that I need more Jesus in my life?
