Orbital: You Lot
The monologue in this song sounds like it would be from a flashback to George Clooney graduating from medical school in ER, but it’s from a BBC made-for-TV movie where Jesus comes back to life and gets angry with stockbrokers and HR managers.
The Beastie Boys: Girls
I don’t even like this band that much, but I’ve seen what this song can do to a dance floor struggling with unheard off-brand jams.
Dick Dale & the Del-Tones: Miserlou
I want to play this song atop the building of the job I just quit with my shirt unbuttoned and flowing in the wind as the sun rises east of me, and when that elegant hawk glides down to perch on my shoulder, I'm going to swing the guitar sideways and hit it in the head and my playing will be so righteous that it won't even matter that there are hawk feathers stuck in the guitar strings.
The Cardigans: My Favourite Game
Never let it be said I didn’t play some songs for the ladies. This is the first of several songs I’ll play this week that answers the popular criticism this blog receives saying that it’s too male-centric.

This song is about karate, which means probably that it's going to play well for all the tan fellas wearing Affliction t-shirts.
The Buzzcocks: A Different Kind of Tension
The beauty of having a mixbag that runs four weeks deep is that you can be listening to it on random, and every once in a while hear a song and be all like This song is great but what the hell is it? Never underestimate the ability to be surprised. How deep is your mixbag?
Moloko: The Time is Now
Another one for the ladies. In future weeks, I'll play Moloko's other good jam, "Do You Like My Tight Sweater?"

me: I remember when it was 2001 and I thought that if people just listened to enough techno music they'd like it eventually.
Then I stopped believing that I could ever get my parents to like something from Global Underground.
Jeremy: It's true, although if you lace it with enough familiarity people will go through the door a lot easier.

The Pixies: Levitate Me
Last time we featured a Pixies song on this blog, the video had that picture of Frank Black’s hairy back. I like this tasteful female-nudity visual better. And this will be my promise to you: I will always choose tasteful female nudity over hairy man back.
Brainiac: Juicy (On a Cadillac)
With serious and sincere apologies to all the people I know who are touched by disabilities, the only word I can think of to describe this song is “retarded.”
Butthole Surfers: Who Was in My Room Last Night?
The old Butthole Surfers MySpace page was fantastic; they had so many demented fans that would post the most insane embedded videos and pictures on their bulletin board. I think this video was the high point of everything this band had been working toward since their seminal hit “Hairway to Steven.”
Salt N Pepa: Push It
Jesus, I learned more from watching this video as a young prince of the mixtapes than I did from sex ed class.
DJ Danger Mouse: Change Clothes
I saw some of Lil' Wayne's MTV Unplugged last night on the tube. You can't call me traditional, because I fully embrace outside the box thinking such as mixing Beatles musical samples with Jay-Z acapellas, but YOU CAN'T CALL IT UNPLUGGED WHEN THERE'S A GUY PLAYING ELECTRIC GUITAR OVER A DJ SPINNING RECORDS. You just can't.
Land of the Loops: Multi-Family Garage Sale
My friend told me the saddest story where he had just said goodbye to his high school girlfriend the night before he was leaving for college, and he was driving home alone, and this song came on the radio.
Tool: Intolerance
One time, I had a very good seat at a Tool show. For the encore, Maynard came out wearing a leather diaper. During one of his trademark slippy-slidey moves, one of his nuts popped out. I saw the lead singer from Tool's nut, and it was very smooth.
Soundgarden: 4th of July
So maybe I'm a week late with this one, but never forget that Soundgarden aged better than most all of early-to-mid-nineties rock.
