You ever say "Thank you sir" out of instinct and realize you're talking to a lady, so you add "ma'am" to the end of it real fast so you say "Thank you sir ma'am"? It happened to me today at the burrito stand, and even though the lady didn't speak English, I still felt like an asswipe.
